This lovely painting is currently up at the Belmont Gallery of Art! The show is gorgeous - it's called Travel the World with the BGA and it's so fun. There are paintings and photographs inspired by trips around the world! If you want a free way to escape from this cold and gray March, go check it out! (19 Moore St, Belmont, MA)

I want to share the back story to this painting. I worked on it using a limited palette to give it a specific feeling - nostalgia. This is a sunset at Brant Rock beach in Marshfield and the soft purples and orange/tans are how I remember this scene - a common one in my childhood.

While I was working on this painting I was sending love and good vibes into the universe for a former neighbor of mine, Paula, who was dying of ovarian cancer. She was a truly kind and loving person. She bought one of my paintings very early on in my journey as an artist and her consistent belief in me and support of my art had a huge impact on my confidence and willingness to keep painting. She impacted so many people in a positive way in her life and when I think of her, I think of warmth and love and kindness. This painting will always remind me of her and I titled it Good Night, Sleep Tight as a message for her to rest easy.

Not all of my paintings have such a deep connection to a person or a place. But when they do, I love to share the back story. I hope you feel peace and warmth when you see this painting. And I hope you share that goodness with people around you.
