Artist Statement
I’m interested in the boundary between abstract and representational art. I love creating light and depth with paint and giving the viewer a place to rest and feel. I also love representing movement and atmosphere with paint. Most of my subjects are familiar places for me and I tend to come back to recurring visual themes from my own life and travels - seascapes, flowers, mountains, and cloudy skies. I have traveled in Italy, France, Spain, the UK, Australia, Mexico, Florida, California, upstate NY, and the New England coast.
Self Portrait, 20 x 28, pen and ink on paper, 2003-2006
I worked on this in art school and, yes, it took years to finish it.
Also, that was a couple decades ago but I'm sure I look exactly the same.
