This beautiful fall landscape was a very special commission for me. I don't really take commissions often as I usually want to paint what I want, when I want. But sometimes the timing is just right.
For this piece, a collector came to me right at the beginning of the pandemic and asked me to paint a scene like this for her father. He is in his late 80s and loves landscape paintings.
Sometimes getting a photo in your email can spark a tidal wave of creativity just at the moment when everything is dark and scary in the world. I had something concrete to work on (weekend mornings when my husband could keep the kids occupied and walk the dog) which gave me a reason to go paint. A reason to get up and keep going! This one now lives in northern California and it's one of my favorites!
